VALORANT CHAMPIONS ‘23: OPENING CEREMONY DOCUMENTARY
VALORANT esports is the intersection of competition and culture. The “VCT” prides itself on being a place of fashion, art, music and inclusivity. VALORANT Champions is the foremost event of the year, where the world’s greatest duke it out in hopes being named World Champion. The opening ceremony crown jewel of this event— a spectacular performance of incredible musicians, climaxing in a performance of the year’s anthem. We had the pleasure of telling the story of how this spectacle was brought to life.
At the heart of the ceremony was the debut of the official tournament anthem, “Ticking Away”, a dynamic collaboration between electronic-rock artist Grabbitz and Canadian rapper bbno$. This track, characterized by its fusion of rock and electronic beats, was performed live, setting an electrifying tone for the finals.
The grandeur of the 2023 Opening Ceremony was not incidental. Riot Games invested over six months in its preparation, coordinating with artists, production crews, and event planners to ensure a seamless integration of music and esports. This extensive effort reflects Riot's vision of elevating esports events to the level of major entertainment spectacles.
