VALORANT MASTERS:
FALSE GODS, TRUE IDOLS

VALORANT Masters Copenhagen took place from July 10–24, 2022, marking the second international LAN tournament of the year. Coming into the event, all eyes were on OpTic Gaming, who were poised to establish the first true dynasty in VALORANT esports history. With Copenhagen’s historic architecture and regal atmosphere as our backdrop, we set out to create a campaign that echoed that sense of grandeur and pressure. We leaned into a more elevated, cinematic style—drawing from old-world European influences to frame the players like modern-day kings and conquerors. Every shot, texture, and lighting choice was crafted to make the competition feel not just important, but mythic.

Riot Games' campaign theme, False Gods, True Idols, explored the idea that those most celebrated aren't always the most deserving — while true greatness often rises quietly from adversity. To bring this concept to life, we crafted a visual story of the "Haves and Have Nots" of the tournament: surrounding the favored teams in settings of opulence, while rooting the underdogs in a grittier, underground culture. The contrast between the two worlds heightened the stakes of the event — illustrating that the path to true greatness is rarely gilded, but fought for in the shadows.
